Oprah’s Next Project

Oprah has one of the greatest runs in TV history and it will soon come to an end on September 2011, when “The Oprah Winfrey Show” leaves the air.

“This show has been my life,” Oprah tearfully told viewers on November 19. “And I love it enough to know when it’s time to say good-bye. Twenty-five years feels right in my bones and it feels right in my spirit.”

By the time Oprah exits, her new venture, a 24-hour cable channel called the “Oprah Winfrey Network” (OWN) will be up and running and available in 80 million homes (replacing “Discovery Health”).

As of now no shows have been officially announced, but Christina Norman ( CEO of OWN) says, “We’re focused on storytelling and self-discovery, and those themes happen in all types of ways.” she said. “Our goal is to create an experience for this audience that is true to their lives.”

Expect to see familiar faces from Oprah’s talk show, including journalist Lisa Ling and sex expert Dr. Laura Berman, who will be part of the programming lineup announced in upcoming weeks. There will also be movies, some made by Oprah’s “Harpo Productions” that Norman believes will appeal to the audience.

You can begin the retrospective appreciation now by heading over to jezebel.com and reveling in a little montage magic 25 years of Oprah introducing her most famous guests with her voluble, over dramatic flair.
